My time in Africa

Right okay, where do i possibly start.

my time in Africa was a eye opener, it had many amazing asspects and  some not so amazing aspects but it was a expirence I'm honoured to of experienced.
From a Mass homeless epidemic to saddening  poverty conditions.

one moment which will stick with me is the children and adults living in complete poverty, it puts a lump in my throat thinking about it. It's honestly indescribable.
men, female and children sleeping on the side of a street with Nothing but what they have on there back. One morning I woke up and decided to go on a walk in the medina. And I witnessed police officers brutally beating the homeless people on the streets to move them off the streets it was a very saddening experience which I felt completely helpless in.

There was a market I visited when I wa sun tangier which was a very weird experience but also was a cultural norm for them. And in this market they were selling alive animals which you could pay for them to be killed to order or you could buy it alive and kill it yourself when you got home. The reason for this is because in the homes of the Moroccan people having a fridge was deemed as a luxury item ! Can you imagine! So they had to kill to order to preserve the meat on the animal. It was very sad to see considering I don't eat meat myself.

Whilst I was in Africa I went to a local shop to get some food for the evening and I was surprised to see how cheap the food was. For example the price of a bottle of coke was 33 pence which in the UK we sell the same size for about £1.50 it was a extrodanary difference in price. That's just one of many examples. The saddest part was whilst there was me filling up my basket because the prices where very cheap for a brittish citizen, there were the locals carefully choosing what they can and cannot add to the basket.

This trip really did make me realise how lucky I am and also how lucky we are as brittish people  and how easy we have life.

despite all this the tangier people were some of the kindest people I met they really had time for you they wanted to help you out with any given opportunity they had even though they were really struggling financially themselfs. They still had smiles on there faces which really inspired me to not complain about little things like having a bad day at work or having a bad meal out in a restaurant because I get to come home to a roof over my head which many of the Moroccan people I met didn't have that.

During my time in Morocco I stayed in a lovley hostel which I met some great people and some of which I still speak to today. One of which was called Daniel he was an Italian man and we just connected despite him being in his late 40s and me being a 18 year old at the time.He had some amazing tales to tell and was cycling from his home town Torin all the way to Africa. It was really inspiring and something I wish to do so in the future.

Africa your always have a special place in my heart!
